Popular rapper, Olamide has joined the long line up of artists scheduled to perform at Alibaba’s ‘January 1st Concert’; holding on the 1st of January, 2017 at EKO Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The upcoming concert will mark the third edition of the ‘January 1st Concert’, which began in 2014 and has since become one of the biggest annual concerts in Lagos. Alibaba has promised fans the upcoming edition will be significantly bigger than the previous as there are surfeit of surprises for attendees. The comedy veteran also revealed the concert will not only involve comedy and music alone but dance as well. Produced by Bunmi Davies, the concert will feature some of the biggest comedy names including Okey Bakassi, Akpororo, Omo Baba, AY, Senator, MC Abbey, Kenny Blaq, Funny Bone, Yaw, Short Family and several other highly sought—after comedians. Nigerian singers, Wizkid and Tekno were the biggest winners at the Soundcity MVP Awards 2016 held on 29 December at  Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. Tekno led all, winning a treble—Digital Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year and the Listeners Choice awards. Wizkid, arguably the most decorated Nigerian artiste in 2016, went home with two awards. He was unrivalled  for African Artiste of the year and Best Male artiste. Olamide won in a collabo with Phyno as best collaboration.  Yemi Alade, won the best female award, edging out other nominees such as Tiwa Savage, Simi, winner at The Headies, Victoria Kimani from Kenya and Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania. Consumption of  `zobo’ drink is very effective in the management of hypertension due to its anti-hypertensive properties, says Dr Ochuko Erukainure, a nutritional biochemist .Erukainure, a senior research officer with the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos State, disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos. According him, `zobo’ drink also known as hibiscus drink also helps in reducing cholesterol level, high blood pressure, diabetes and constipation in the human system. “`Zobo’ drink contains between 15 per cent and 30 per cent organic acids such as: citric acid, maleic acid, and tartaric acid.“It also contains acidic polysaccharides and flavonoid glycosides, such as cyanide and delphine. “ `Zobo’ drink helps to lower blood pressure as it contains an enzyme inhibitor which blocks the production of amylase,’’ he said. The singer insisted in a Twitter post that he did not intentionally ignore Caesar, making light of the incident. Nigerian pop singer, Wizkid, has denied intentionally snubbing Eva Alordiah's fiancé, Caesar, when they met at the 2016 Headies. The artiste was reported to have greeted the female rapper but paid no attention to her boo who was sitting next to her. This incident was considered by many to be the biggest snub of the year. Wizkid however claimed through a Twitter post on Friday, December 23, 2016, that he did not see the TV presenter who made the first move to greet him as he was walking by the couple. Africa's biggest youth event, The Future Awards Africa came to a triumphant climax on Sunday when it held its annual ceremony, now in its 11th year. We were introduced to the key players shaping the future in the 105 nominees identified across 21 categories. The event was well attended by Nigeria's political, cultural, media and entertainment elite. The keynote speech was given by the President Elect of The Republic of Ghana, Dr. Nana Akufo-Addo.
