eLDee, Kingsley Offor speak on new data tracking product, challenges of broadcast media industry
Currently, there is no hard data on the frequency of music/video
airplay on the airwaves, and ElDee, alongside his partner, Kingsley
Offor, hope to change that with PlayData.
When you hear the name eLDee, you probably think of the Nigerian music industry and hip-hop in particular. You may also think of Trybe Records and remember a few songs from back in the day. The 'Is it your money?' saying might even pop up in your head too.
However,
ElDee is no longer confined to the music industry, so you may be just a
tad disappointed. And I say just a tad because, while the name may be
synonymous with music, ElDee is broadening his horizons, adding
technology to his game.
The businessman and hip-hop legend was recently in the Pulse TV studio, where he spoke about his new product - PlayData.
PlayData is an online platform that monitors
content that is being broadcast on TV or radio, giving the owner of the
Intellectual Property information regarding their song or music video
(when they are played, how long such song/video is played for and where
it is played from/on).
Currently, there is no hard data on the frequency of music/video airplay on the airwaves, and ElDee, alongside his partner, Kingsley Offor, hope to change that with PlayData.
According
to Offor, who is eLDee's childhood friend, he bought into the PlayData
idea because he knows ElDee and the situation of the broadcast media
industry in Nigeria. He also added that the journey so far has been
exciting, stating that he looks forward to the challenges that adoption
of the platform will bring.
