Buhari orders probe of JAMB, NIMASA, gives flood alert

ABUJA – PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of former managements of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, over what it called poor remittances in the past. This is as the current leadership of JAMB has for the first time remitted N5 billion to the coffers of the government with a balance of N3 billion still to be remitted compared to maximum N3 million per annum remitted in the past. Meantime, the Federal Government has told Nigerians living close to the Kanji Dam and River Niger to be on the look out for more flood, saying that as the rains increase the flood could be drastic. Maiduguri —Two factions of the Boko Haram insurgency group are ready for talks with the Federal Government, Abdulkadir Abubakar, a former commander of the group, has claimed. Abubakar, also known as Abu Muhammad, was the chief intelligence officer of the Boko Haram group and one of its top commanders, until his arrest in June by the military in Buni Yadi in Gujba Local Government area of Yobe State. EFCC discovers another N250m inside Lagos market 250 million cash  Again, like it happened in the recent recovery, the owner of the N250 million discovered on Monday, April 10, 2017 was not revealed, but it was learnt that it belonged to a top Nigerian from the north. The anti-graft agency said in a statement through its spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, that the discovery followed a tipoff by a whistle-blower. Lagos traffic hawkers Six motorists have been summarily sent to prison for three months by an Ogba Magistrates' Court after they were arraigned by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency (LASECORPS), for allegedly buying goods in traffic. Punch reports that apart from the drivers, some commuters and petty traders who flouted the state's traffic laws were given the same treatment. President Muhammadu Buhari who has just returned from a prolonged vacation in the United Kingdom (UK), has said he had never been this sick in his entire life. Speaking to government officials at the State House in Abuja, Buhari said:“I couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man, including in the military with its ups and downs”. The president also said he could not recall the last time he had a blood transfusion. Buhari, however, stressed that with or without him, Nigeria will continue.
